Providers and families submit wound history, clinical information, and imaging. CWS determines whether an in-person surgical evaluation may be appropriate, usually within days, and without an immediate hospital visit.

The evaluation is designed to answer one question well: does this wound deserve surgical attention, or does it belong back in conservative care with a refined plan?
Submit
Wound history, photos, clinical notes, and any imaging, gathered through a secure virtual visit. Providers can send records directly.
Virtual consultation
A wound-certified surgical provider meets the patient, family, or care team by video and reviews the case in real time.
Candidacy determination
Surgical candidacy is determined. If intervention isn’t appropriate, a clear written assessment goes back to the existing care team.
Validate, then straight to surgery when appropriate
A surgical wound care nurse validates the wound in person to confirm what we saw. When intervention is the right call, we arrange transportation and the patient moves straight to the surgical center.
We don’t sell surgery. We provide timely surgical evaluation, and a structured note after every encounter.

CWS Virtual Surgical Access.
The virtual evaluation runs on our secure tele-wound platform, Dr. Wounds. Photos and video are reviewed live with the patient, family, or nursing team, the encounter is documented, and a structured note is returned to the existing medical record.
To start, call the clinic at 202.861.2971 or send records by email. Scheduling goes straight into the CWS calendar and EMR, and a coordinator confirms timing, usually within days for urgent cases.
Every outcome comes with a plan.
Some evaluated wounds return to conservative care with a refined plan and a follow-up interval. Some warrant in-person assessment. And when intervention is clinically appropriate, it happens at Capital Surgical Center, the CWS ambulatory surgical center, with same-day recovery when appropriate.
In every case, the existing care team gets a structured note. The patient goes back to the providers who know them. That continuity is the point.
